During initial rhinoplasty surgeries, a certain amount of cartilage is removed from inside the nose to reshape it. Therefore, during revision surgeries, the necessary cartilage material to reshape the nose may not be available in the surgical field. This may necessitate taking cartilage from the ear or ribs.

The duration of the surgery varies depending on the shape of the nose and the procedures performed, and can range from 1 to 6 hours.
